supersat who answered my support request with a knowledgable and very helpful response. Apparently, between my default/unset MTU values on my desktop and more likely, the ICS machine I use, and LJ's current load and state of affairs, it was causing me to lose long posts. A quick change of the MTU on the ICS machine to 576 for the DUN interface, and setting my NIC here on my XP machien to 1500, and all seems well now. Oh happy day! Huzzah!
